Why do so many guitar players seek out the warm sound of a tube amp? The Kinman Hx Blues set is less aggressive, warmer, rounder Aged *Strat sound with milder attack than the Trad Mk-III in clean mode and breaks into crunch more easily.
Surprising Alnico detail with less brightness, medium strong output. The Blues set is also great for smooth overdrive sounds with 'clarity and TONE', with Zero-Hum.
Low magnetic string pull for longer sustain and less string crash and fret buzz.
Quite versatile. Best in a K5 or K7 NoSoldering Harness because some players might find the Blues set in the 'series' mode of the K9 will not have the highs and definition that the Traditional Mk-II and Woodstock's have..
Traditional MKIII SET - Zero Hum
The Mk-III set has even more of a vintage sound flavor; the Mk-II set was quite strong on the plain strings and the overall impression of the sound was a little 'in-your-face. The sound of the plain strings on this upgrade is less in your face, absolutely vintage and noticeably sweeter. Like the Mk-II this set has 'slightly-aged' sound for more defined midrange (less scooped) which is better for live performing.
Only the most privelleged players have heard genuine original vintage pickups because they are so rare. They had a big, bold sweet, elusive sound that modern pickups just can't capture. The Traditional Mk-III set sounds remarkably similar to the best Strat pickups of yesteryear. Complex Alnico character, excellent dynamics, projection and definition that are retained even when distorted. Fluid, shimmery, chimey highs (never thin or Ice picky) More punch and thwack on the wound strings than a regular new single coil. Has excellent twang and growl. Absolutely authentic classic slightly-aged vintage Alnico Strat* tone, with Zero-Hum.
Hank Marvin (FV-HMS) SET- Zero Hum
Hanks modern Gypsy Jazz sound. For Hanks original 60's Shadows sound choose Impersonator 54 set further up this page.
Created especially for Hank in 2001 and used ever since by the legend himself. Hank also used this set exclusively during the final Farewell Shadows tour in 2004 where he played old and new tunes with the legendary Hank Marvin sound (without the mains hum). This set creates Hanks modern Gypsy Jazz sound, authoritive with excellent projection and clarity not possible with regular single coil pickups. You'll love how the bridge pickup never sounds shrill or skinny, it's just so meaty and so rich in twangy tone. Hank loves to really dig into the strings with his pick when using the bridge pickup (AVn-64). Low magnetic string pull for longer sustain and less string crash and fret buzz complete the picture - zero hum.
Woodstock Plus SET - Zero Hum
In his best performances Jimi had the most dynamic and explosive sounds, the notes rolled off his fretboard like magical fluid. These Woodstocks with slightly-aged Strat sound have the most thump and punch, explosive attack and exceptional clarity, definition and projection. They break into easily crunch under heavy pick attack. Heaps of Alnico tone character. Overdosed with projection and grit and powerful top end chime. Great for Heavy Rock and extreme distortion. High output with the welcome advantage of Zero-Hum. Moderately versatile.

The Woodstock Plus has a different bridge pickup, the BIG powerful Hx-85. In a K9 Harness the 'Plus' set is very versatile, yielding sounds similar to a P-90, with Zero-Hum. Works well in the K5 and K7 also
The most defintive classic Tele* tone was made by the 1960's white-edgebound Custom Tele with single coils. These AVn-60 series pickups give you a Caricature sound of those very rare guitars that you can have for your Tele too. The 60's Custom set is bright but never thin, has improved focus, twang, dynamics and high end chime. Great for chickin pickin country lead or any other classic Tele style. The middle position of the switch sounds better than with original Telecaster pickups.
Imagine the very best Telecaster tone that you can remember; this set has more body & girth which means they never sound thin or excessively bright. The sound has very nice complex Alnico midrange detail.... and has Zero-Hum and zero microphonic whistle. Other features players will be delighted with is the superb dynamic range and string output balance.This set has Kinman's propriety Alnico low strength magnets, like all our Fender type pickups, so string pull is minimized, sustain is longer and there is less rattle and buzz from the strings crashing into the frets from excessive magnet pull.

Versatile and inspirational sound that is extremely responsive, meaning maximum aliveness. Sweeter highs and deep resounding lows with wonderful piano-like mid tones combine for sensitive and soulful expression of self. The middle position with both on together yield additional dimensions until now unimagined.
Neck pickup is optimized to reduce tendency to mush the wound strings at high volume resulting in better clarity and definition with more dimensional properties.

P-90Hx Single (Neck or Bridge)

Only the most priveleged players have heard genuine original Broadcaster** pickups of the early 1950's. Now you can be priveleged too, Kinman AVn-48 series pickups have thick and focused tone with lots of drive. The uniquely complex Alnico midrange makes for superb definition, a sound with 'attitude' and plenty of output that projects effortlessly through the rest of the band without having to be too loud. Brad Paisley’s favorite pickups and you will feel confidently in charge of the guitar sounds too.

Impersonator 54 SET - Zero Hum
The Impersonator 54 has all the shimmering highs, highly transparent (noticeably scooped) midrange, twang and deep bass of the best examples of new Stratocaster pickups. The strings can be pounded but the sound won’t crunch at loud room volume.
It has lightening fast response to pick attack and easily tracks jaw dropping picking gymnanastics which is great for shredders. Low magnetic string pull for longer sustain and less string crash and fret buzz.
This could not be achieved with conventional technology, it took several revolutionary technologies that were pioneered and developed over many years and Patented by Kinman. The name was chosen for the obvious sonic similarity to Fender’s CS 54 and was developed at the request of Hank Marvin of The Shadows to achieve his 60’s twangy instrumental lead guitar sound, without hum. Position 2 and 4 are totally authentic Knopfler-esque.

There are countless PAF copies available so I wanted to do something a little different …. an improved PAF by accentuating the best characteristics of the classic PAF sound. This is the Kinman version of the classic PAF vintage Humbucker with the Triple Alnico Tone advantage.
Remarkable for it’s increased touch sensitivity and dynamic response and higher efficiency than a vintage PAF style humbucker. Also it has better midrange detail and noticeably sweeter highs.
It growls easily on the wound strings and sings sweetly on the plain strings with an intense harmonic bloom. Plain strings sound better than they do with conventional PAF style humbuckers even though they are quite powerful. Direct replacement for conventional humbuckers. 3 conductor hook-up cable allows for coil splitting.
The Extra Vintage model has even more vintage flavor than a PAF. The 30% under-wound Extra Vintage has sweeter highs and more detailed midrange than regular Vintage or PAF humbuckers thanks to the Triple Alnico Tone advantage. Has some of the thwack factor of a P-90. Midrange honk has been reduced so the sound is remarkably fresh and open. It is also noticeably more touch sensitive and responsive … and tracks as fast as lightening in response to blurringly fast pick attack and is very responsive to pinch harmonics and hammer-ons which makes it a must for shredders.
It growls easily on the wound strings and sings sweetly on the plain strings with a nice harmonic bloom. The plain strings never sound offensive like they often do with conventional humbuckers. High end harmonic clarity shines through heavy distortion which is quite uncommon with conventional humbuckers. Direct replacement for conventional humbuckers. 3 conductor hook-up cable allows for coil splitting.
The unconventional coils of the Clean Skin with the Triple Alnico Tone advantage means a Humbucker with a remarkable difference. It has been described by one customer who has long experience with humbuckers as “sounding somewhere between a Filtertron and a P-90, with a mid-range bark that is not like either of them”. It has a juicy single coil vibe (think very fat & luscious P-90) which makes it great for the neck position because it overcomes the tendency of conventional humbuckers to be wooffy & mushy with reduced definition of the wound strings at high volume. However it can still grind and growl with better definition and clarity in the bridge position which makes it also sound better under distortion than other humbuckers.
Great for guitars with bridge single coils like the recent model Telecaster Thinline (not the original 70’s Thinline with the Wide Range Humbucker which is bigger than a conventional humbucker). Direct replacement for conventional humbuckers. 3 conductor hook-up cable allows for coil splitting.
